Report: Milan proposed friendly match to Lazio on August 6 but they declined

AC Milan could have rounded off their preseason campaign with a friendly against Serie A rivals Lazio but they idea has been binned, a report claims.

Yesterday Stefano Pioli’s side began their friendly campaign against the amateur side Lemine Almenno at Milanello. The match ended 3-0 for the Rossoneri thanks to goals from Messias, Rebic and Gabbia, and now a game against FC Köln in the Telekom Cup awaits this Saturday.

According to LazioNews.eu (via PianetaMilan), there was a game in the pipeline between Milan and Lazio. Initially the match was supposed to be played on August 6, but after a meeting within the club the Biancocelesti decided to decline the proposal made by the Rossoneri.

The reason for them declining is not yet clear but there was no venue or time set for the game, so it was far from being an advanced plan. Milan will probably fill that slot on 6 August by playing against Vicenza.
