Reports: Milan still interested in re-signing €40m+ playmaker but Atalanta have other ideas

AC Milan are still interested in signing Matteo Pessina but time is running out for them to use their resale clause, according to a report.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) today, the Rossoneri are still keen on the Italy international after his excellent performances at the European Championships with Italy, but Atalanta have no intention of selling.

The report cites La Gazzetta dello Sport in claiming that the market value of Pessina has skyrocketed and if he was worth €30m before, the valuation of Pessina has gone above €40m now. The Rossoneri boast 50% of any future resale of the player and could therefore essentially sign him for half that figure.

However, Atalanta are of a completely different opinion and want to keep Pessina in Bergamo. After 100 appearances for the Nerazzurri, the resale clause will be removed and Milan will be entitled to a maximum of €3m. In addition, Atalanta are considering renewing the player’s contract until June 2024.
