Rimini 1-0 Milan Futuro: Difficult start and goal drought continue for Bonera’s side

Milan Futuro’s difficult start to the league season continued last night as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 away from home by Rimini at the Stadio Romeo Neri.

Cernigoi got the winner just before the hour mark in what was a hard-fought contest and it could be argued that the goal came against the run of play, given that Daniele Bonera’s side were very much on top barring a few moments.

Indeed, the Rossoneri were the more dangerous side over the course of the 90 minutes but failed to capitalise on the opportunities they created, but the end result is another defeat that means that Milan Futuro are without a win after five games.

Worryingly, the goal drought from open play continues after a game where Milan came close on several occasions, most notably through Mattia Liberali who was only thwarted by the bar.

The Futuro sit in 19th place – second-bottom of the table – after five games with two draws and three defeats, and they are already two points from safety so that first win needs to come sooner rather than later.

Milan Futuro’s next fixture – against SPAL – is just around the corner, another game that will provide an opportunity to come away with a win for the first time this season. That match is scheduled for 18:30 CEST on Thursday 26 September.
