Milan Futuro 0-2 Ascoli: Two first-half goals condemn Bonera’s side to defeat

Milan Futuro were second best all over the park as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Ascoli to condemn them to a second defeat in three league games to begin the season.

The match before the international break was a historic day for the Futuro as they got their first ever point in Serie C, coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Carpi at home thanks to a Francesco Camarda penalty.

However, it was a rude awakening in the third game as they were rather comfortably beaten by Ascoli, a team who admittedly are very experienced playing at that level.

The Bianconeri took the lead thanks to an excellent penalty kick by Corazza in the 25th minute and the spot kick came after a big blunder by captain Andrea Bozzolan, although there were some doubts about the referee’s decision and how much contact there actually was.

Things got worse 10 minutes later as the visiting team doubled their lead from a corner kick. The centre-back Menna scored, having been injured in a clash with Bozzolan, who was once again at fault.

In all honesty the only real positive was Hugo Cuenca’s performance after he made his senior Paraguay debut in his last outing. He had a curling shot blocked wide, and then seemed ready to head inside the far post not long after before the flag went up.

The result means that Daniele Bonera’s side have just one point from their first three games, putting them in danger of entering the relegation places. Teething problems were expected in the first season, especially given how many players have been missing, but positive results are needed.
