RMC Sport: Milan have ‘contractual agreement’ with Fofana but competition builds

AC Milan and Youssouf Fofana have a ‘contractual agreement’ in place but now negotiations with Monaco must reach a meeting point, a journalist has claimed.

Fofana has been linked with Milan since the start of the summer window as Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani have identified him as the right reinforcement for the midfield, while his deal runs out in June 2025 making him a classic ‘mercato opportunity’.

Given the fact that the team let in 69 goals across all competitions last season, there is not only the need to solidify the defensive line itself but also for it to be better protected, and Fofana profile capable of playing in front of the back four.

According to what is being reported by Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Fofana and Milan have ‘reached a contractual agreement’ over a four-year deal, therefore one that would run until the end of June 2028.

The Rossoneri ‘must now negotiate with AS Monaco’ to agree a transfer fee for the 25-year-old France international, but the competition that is beginning to mount should give them a sense of urgency.

Manchester United and a club that plays in the Champions League remain attentive to the situation of Fofana as per the journalist, implying they are ready to pounce if Milan don’t tie things up quickly.
