According to from Sky and MilanVibes, the prefecture in Rome has reversed its approach, cancelling the postponement of the six matches originally scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 CEST to Monday at 20:45 CEST.
This has resulted in a new official proposal: the Rome derby, and consequently the other matches scheduled for the same time (including Genoa vs. Milan) to be moved to Sunday at 12:00 CEST, half an hour earlier than originally scheduled.
This final decision hinges on one final change: the FITP’s decision regarding the ATP 1000 final in Rome, which would have to be postponed until 17:30. to allow for the proper flow of fans and traffic ahead of the other major event scheduled at the Foro Italico, just a few meters from the Olimpico.
It is a convoluted scenario that could have been easily avoided by imposing a scheduling ban on playing a major match during the most attractive tennis tournament in Italy, the Italian Open.
This process also creates enormous problems for football teams in selling tickets for their matches, with fans and spectators in general finding it increasingly difficult to fit their schedules around the still-uncertain dates of those matches.
Consider that we’re talking about 12 teams involved in this crazy chaos, it feels it could have easily been avoided with a preventive dialogue between the parties involved.
