Fabrizio Romano is ‘sure’ that AC Milan will sign a new striker during the summer transfer window and responded to the links with Gianluca Scamacca of West Ham.

Repubblica recently reported that Milan are looking for the striker of the future with Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic no longer able to start every game given their age, adding that the Rossoneri management will have to think about a possible long-term option and Scamacca is on the list.
West Ham spent €36m last summer to sign him from Sassuolo but the feeling is that the 24-year-old could return to Serie A if there is not a positive upturn between now and the summer, something that the recent split from his agent added fuel to the fire with.
Romano spoke in his daily column for CaughtOffside and he responded to the speculation that Milan are looking at Scamacca as one of the potential options ahead of the summer window.
“I’m aware there have been stories linking Gianluca Scamacca with AC Milan but I wouldn’t read too much into them for now. Of course he’s linked with return to Italy as he’s Italian and Serie A clubs know him very well,” he said.
“I’m sure Milan will sign a new striker next summer, but there’s nothing advanced or concrete for Scamacca yet as he has to pick new agents after leaving his former agent; this is crucial step, also West Ham have not spoken to any club about Scamacca.”
