Milan found it quite difficult to break the deadlock, but did so just before the half-time interval as Olivier Giroud converted a penalty after Rafael Leao had been fouled. Early in the second half a header from Alexis Saelemaekers doubled the advantage and the game looked to already be well in control.

However, Dinamo’s danger man Orsic got his 11th goal of the season to halve the deficit for the away side, but the game was put to bed late on and it came through a memorable moment as Tommaso Pobega fired home from inside the box for his first ever goal for the club.

Saelemaekers spoke to Sky Italia after the game to reflect on the performance and on the fact he managed to make it two goals in two games in the Champions League so far this season.

Two games, two goals in the Champions League…

“It is true that I had already said it in the conference, I am working on my numbers in attack: I am even happier for the team and for the first 3 points at home for 9 years,” Saelemaekers said (via MilanNews).

Are you working on the attacking phase?

“I try to be more present in the area. I try to do it and today I scored, I’m very happy.”

Did you play at the same level as you play in Italy?

“I think we played at our level, with a good mentality and a good work rate. We are very happy with the points in the Champions League, now we are concentrating on Napoli.”

A tough test against Chelsea awaits next…

“We know that Chelsea are a great team, we will play them like other teams, nothing changes for us: if we play at our level I’m sure we can do something good.”
