Di Marzio: Sarri ‘really likes’ Loftus-Cheek with attempt expected – the details

It seems Ruben Loftus-Cheek could further AC Milan’s need for midfield reinforcement, with Lazio sniffing around.

Tijjani Reijnders has already left, whilst Yunus Musah is also seemingly on the way to another Serie A club. So, Milan, regardless of any others, need to invest in the middle of the park. However, that need could be yet further strengthened.

Loftus-Cheek to Lazio?

It should not come as a shock that Maurizio Sarri has taken notice of his situation with the Rossoneri, especially considering the Englishman’s best came under the Italian with Chelsea. However, it could quickly be ramped up.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Laziali ‘want’ to make a move for the midfielder, powered by Sarri’s appreciation for the out-of-favour man. Furthermore, negotiations are not expected to be rejected, with Massimiliano Allegri not considering him a key part of the team.

In fact, in the past six months, there have been several suggestions that he could be heading out the way out of Milanello, alongside other Englishmen. There are no suggestions of prices, but you would imagine it would be in the €15-20 million region, which would further strengthen bids for Granit Xhaka or Javi Guerra, perhaps.

We saw how quickly Musah’s departure was negotiated, so this could follow suit if the interest is strong.

  1. Good move. Offload all underperforming players. But this will be a completely new team. Can they win the scudetto? I hope they sign better quality players who are hungry for success.

  2. Cash only. No Loans please 🙏
    Or players swapping with
    Nuno Tavares or Luca Pellegrini
    or Mattéo Guendouzi. Keith 🇲🇹

  3. I’ll send Sarri a bottle of wine if he insists on this move. Anything for RLC at this point is a bargain.

  4. RLC plus 40M for Rovella. 35M for Jashari, Modric on a free. The Reijnders money basically covers this. Our midfield for next season is Rovella, Jashari, Modric, Fofana, Bondo, Zeroli, and Liberali. Great mix of everything. Then the 25M from Musah get used on an LB. Bartesaghi for LB backup. Tomori is sold for 25M and that money goes for Leoni. Sell Theo for 20M. Finally the “normal” budget of 40M, plus the Theo money, is used on another RB (20M), a backup LW (10M) and another striker (30M). Saelemaekers returns as RW alternate.

    1. I took a break from Football Manager until mercato is over, not good for my health. Playing Europa Universalis 4 now, trying to restore Roman Empire with Byzantium, much less stressful. Highly recommend
