Kessie was one of the stars of Milan’s rebirth under Stefano Pioli, one that culminated with the Scudetto win in 2021-22. His last action for the club was to score the third goal in the win over Sassuolo that sealed that title, before departing on a free transfer for Barcelona.
Now, there is talk of the Ivorian potentially departing Saudi Arabia ahead of 2026-27. Milan are on the hunt for experienced players that know the league well, and Massimiliano Allegri will know Kessie well having faced him on multiple occasions.
‘Very close to a return to Serie A’
Matteo Moretto spoke in a video on his YouTube channel about what the future might hold for Kessie, and he confirmed that a potential return to Serie A is very much on with a multi-team battle underway. MilanNews relayed his words.
“Juventus are one of the teams most interested in him, but there are other clubs as well. Kessiè is currently keen to return to Europe, including Italy, where he’s already been and won with AC Milan,” he said.
“He earns a significant sum in Saudi Arabia, so whoever wants Kessiè will also have to take his significant salary into account.
“Several big Italian clubs are interested in him, but it remains to be seen when and how the Ivorian midfielder, currently very close to a return to Serie A, will move forward.”
