Sky: Calhanoglu’s renewal gives Milan a headache – the optimism is beginning to fade

AC Milan are set for another vital meeting with the agent of Hakan Calhanoglu over his contract renewal, a report claims.

According to the latest from broadcaster Sky Italia (via MilanNews) and in particular from reporter Manuele Baiocchini, Calhanoglu’s agent Gordon Stipic will be in Italy in the coming days to meet and discuss a new deal again.

There is an offer from Milan to be investigated, but at the moment the parties are very far apart because Milan have tabled a contract worth €3.5m net per season while the request is practically double.

The feeling is that the meeting next week could bring the parties closer, even if Sky report that that the feeling emerging is not a very positive one. The request is too high for the management and agreeing to those figures would mean that many Milan players could go knocking on the door to ask for huge salaries.

This leaves Milan at a crossroads: either they pay Calhanoglu the money and accept that others will ask for more too, or let him go and try to reinvest.
