Sky: Milan’s interest in Kone confirmed as Monchengladbach set price

AC Milan’s interest in signing Manu Kouadio Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach has been confirmed, but the Bundesliga side have reportedly set a high asking price.

According to the latest from Sky (via MilanNews), Milan’s pursuit of Youssouf Fofana has encountered difficulties because Monaco will not reduce their asking price and thus the management have had to look into alternative names to try and fill the gap in the midfield.

Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach is the latest player that Geoffrey Moncada and co. have identified, however he will not be cheap either. The German club are asking for €30m to sell the 23-year-old, they state, which is not far off the reported asking price for Fofana.

It is not the first time that Milan have held an interest in the Frenchman, though. As Radio Rossonera recently recalled, in the summer of 2021 the Diavolo were in talks to sign Kone, but they did not close a €4m gap between offer and demand.

Monchengladbach were able to swoop in and close the operation quickly, and Kone has since blossomed into a highly sought after midfielder. He is currently with France at the Olympics in Paris, starting both of the group stage games so far.
