Sky: Milan’s interest in Kone confirmed as Monchengladbach set price

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s interest in signing Manu Kouadio Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach has been confirmed, but the Bundesliga side have reportedly set a high asking price.

According to the latest from Sky (via MilanNews), Milan’s pursuit of Youssouf Fofana has encountered difficulties because Monaco will not reduce their asking price and thus the management have had to look into alternative names to try and fill the gap in the midfield.

Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach is the latest player that Geoffrey Moncada and co. have identified, however he will not be cheap either. The German club are asking for €30m to sell the 23-year-old, they state, which is not far off the reported asking price for Fofana.

It is not the first time that Milan have held an interest in the Frenchman, though. As Radio Rossonera recently recalled, in the summer of 2021 the Diavolo were in talks to sign Kone, but they did not close a €4m gap between offer and demand.

Monchengladbach were able to swoop in and close the operation quickly, and Kone has since blossomed into a highly sought after midfielder. He is currently with France at the Olympics in Paris, starting both of the group stage games so far.

  1. Still believe in Bennacer, hoping we dont sell him and that Fonseca can get him back to the level he played along side Kessie

  2. There cannot be the slightest doubt that the dirty-faced furlani with his dirty, ugly stubble is dumb, stupid and a simpleton who seems to enjoy making a fool of himself.
At €30 million fofana is expensive …. so send him and monaco to hell. We are milan, proud and strong and nobody dictates to us what we do.
So presto furlani and co find a mister nobody who will be amazingly great and perfect for milan ….. price: €30 million!!!! How clever!!!!
    What a shambles …

    1. A) monaco wants 35M for fofana, supposedly.
      B) he is in the last year of his contract so yeah, that is a step price..even 25M is a step price.
      C) we’re not paying 30M for Kone. We’re not paying 30M for anybody. Pretty sure that’s more than obvious by now, if you pay attention

    2. Ina perfect world you can pull a rabbit out of Furlong’s hat, but Furlani is not a magician and neither is his side kick Moncada.
Instead Moncada shows his value when the only players he can attract are second grade frenchman to Milan and he gets paid very well. In the meantime Milan flounder in the vast waters.

  3. Few days ago I read a news about Chelsea. They want to offload a list of 10 players minimum. In that list was Lesley Ugochukwu. I was a little surprised by that. If it’s true, I think is a very good ideea to make a try. For him and Casadei.

  4. Keep bennacer. Either bring back Breschianni who have 50% rights ie he will cost us half price or go for Ricci. Given Pobega had a good stint with Torino they’ll be happy to have him back. Otherwise the safe choice is Arambat.

  5. Nope our safe choice is Tonali, the management along with italy FA is just not ready to help him. Yes. he his a gambler and also one of the next best Midfielders he his yet to reach his peak. this is a good marketing strategy for the government and milan against bet scandal among players in their Respective segment of the Country Fa.

since we can get Pavlovic for less that 25m
give newcastle Thaiw and bring back Tonali.
    swap deal.
your midfield issue is covered. and you can spend whatever is left of the 20m suppposed deal for the dm on Fullkurg or samardic..

but milan want a straight out 40m for thaiw to chase a dm and cm

  6. Bennacer has looked pretty good so far. We could be OK with just one DM, be it Fofana or whoever.

We do need to offload some dead weight though.

  7. Fofana close to westham who offer 35m, maybe matched with as monaco ask for but the player wants to play with milan. Woww, interesting…
