Sky: Pioli led today’s session at Milanello without directors present

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli was left to his own devices at training this morning as only his staff were present, rather than any of the Rossoneri directors.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News), the Rossoneri underwent a rare Saturday recovery session soon after returning from Salerno.

The team had been in Campania to face Salernitana on Friday night and the game ended 2-2. Fikayo Tomori gave Milan the lead but Federico Fazio and Antonio Candreva both scored to make it 2-1.

After Tomori had gone off with a muscle injury, Luka Jovic managed to score a 90th-minute equaliser which secured a point for Milan, but did not really change the negative feeling around the team and the season.

Having travelled north to Milan, the players engaged in a light session at Milanello which none of the upstairs names, such as Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, were present for.

It is not clear why no directors were present. It is most likely that after a long journey back from Salerno, they felt their time was better spent elsewhere.

There is no suggestion that Pioli will be sacked before the match against Sassuolo on December 30, but anything other than a win there could be terminal.
