As was spotted by Sky Sport Italia correspondent Pippo Di Stefano at the Italy training camp (via Radio Rossonera), there was a very warm embrace between the pair which showed there is no ill feeling.
Tonali was not expected to leave Milan in the summer but a bid came in from Newcastle United that the club could not say no to and that led to the transfer.
There is a chance that Tonali will be facing Milan at San Siro next week in the Champions League, although he has a muscle injury which is keeping him out of Italy’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine.
It is not clear how bad the injury is but he may be spared having to face the Milan fans so soon after his move to the Premier League was confirmed.
