MilanNews write how Theo is a fundamental player from a tactical point of view for Pioli and the numbers provde it too. He is the Milan player with the most minutes this season – 3,013 across all comptitions – and he has contributed to 13 goals. The Frenchman has 9 assists (6 in Serie A and 3 in the Coppa Italia) and has scored 4 goals (3 against Venezia home and away and 1 away against Empoli).

Despite the numbers put together in his first couple of seasons and the obvious dynamism he brings, Hernandez has never managed to be truly protagonist in a derby since he joined Milan. He has played in eight and has only missed one, and that was the first league derby this season when he was suspended.

The 23-year-old must deal with the defensive phase with more concentration in games against Inter it must be said, especially against a tricky customer like Denzel Dumfries who attacks as much as Theo.

In the last league match against the Nerazzurri – the 2-1 come from behind win – the former Real Madrid man played perhaps the best derby of his time so far as he won a battle with the Dutchman. Against Inter, however, Hernandez has not had a goal nor an assist – tomorrow night the opportunity is ready again.
