Thiaw ‘happy’ to have earned Pioli’s confidence: “We are a strong group”

Centre-back Malick Thiaw admitted he is ‘happy to have contributed’ to tonight’s 1-0 win for AC Milan at home against Torino.

Thiaw made his first league start of the calendar year and he was a huge part of a clean sheet that was desperately needed, even being deservedly named as the man of the match in our player ratings from the game.

It was far from a vintage performance however it was three very much needed points to end a run of seven games without a win and four defeats on the spin, registering a first clean sheet since November 8 too to move back into the top four for the time being.

Thiaw was interviewed by DAZN at the end of the game to analyse what was a very hard fought win against a difficult opponent and a positive start for him.

“We are not coming from an easy situation, the important thing was to win and get out of the rut, we are happy with Olivier’s goal. We are a strong group,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I’m happy to have contributed, we were compact in the second half. It was important to protect Milan’s goal tonight. I’m happy to have started from the first minute. I’m happy with the confidence of the coach and with this victory.”
