Tonali: “We cannot say that it is a season that makes us satisfied so far” – video

AC Milan needed a last minute own-goal from Nikola Milenkovic to beat Fiorentina last night, but they did at least ensure a winning end to the first part of the season.

Rafael Leao’s goal inside the second minute looked like making it an easy evening for Stefano Pioli’s men but Antonin Barak levelled it with a deflected shot, and it needed Milenkovic to knee a cross into his net in the third minute of four added at the end of the 90 to give Milan the win.

Tonali spoke to the microphones of Milan TV (via MilanNews) after the game and admitted to not being entirely happy with where the team are at.

“It was the only way to end this 2022 in the best way possible. These first 15 games did not all go as we wanted but the answers are positive. We cannot say that it is a season that makes us satisfied so far, we only have to look at ourselves,” he said.

“We had an incredible desire to take home the 3 points. We had an extra strength in the last supporters thanks to our fans to go and find that goal.

“Everyone deserves it. We cannot be without the fans and they cannot be without us. We feel this on the pitch, it is a stimulus that in the darkest moments of a match gives you strength, attention and concentration, gives you the desire to make every single person happy at the stadium. Even today we understood it and it gave us that extra push in the last few minutes.

“It is a break that can do us good, or it could not. It had to arrive because we played 21 games which is really a lot. It will be a difficult year, now is the time to switch off, to go to the national team for those who have the opportunity and rest for everyone else. It’s time to unplug for a moment.”
