Sandro Tonali certainly had a night to remember in Hellas Verona as he scored a brace on his birthday to engineer a comeback win for AC Milan.
Tonali had Rafael Leao to thank for his hand in both goals as the Portuguese winger twice went on a surging run down the left wing and twice cut it back to the Italian midfielder who finished into a virtually empty net. The birthday boy spoke to MilanTV after the win.
“It was a wonderful evening for all of us and the Milan fans. We came here for this, we went on even after going behind. Their goal didn’t cut our legs because we are a great team that immediately put aside the disadvantage and started from scratch,” he said (via MilanNews).
“When I scored the 2-1 goal, I felt a little like a Milan fan. It is an evening that we must remember, but we must also be good at putting in a point straight away to carry on strong against Atalanta.”
