Tuttosport: Milan carry out blitz for Spurs-linked defender ahead of January window

AC Milan need to sign a centre-back in January due to the long-term absences of Pierre Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino. As per a report, they are ready to challenge Tottenham for the services of Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

Kalulu and Pellegrino both got injured in the 2-2 clash against Napoli and will be out for quite some time, especially the Frenchman. Therefore, Milan need to reinforce the team in January and a centre-back is the top priority as things stand.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri’s chief scout Geoffrey Moncada observed Lloyd Kelly during Bournemouth’s clash against Burnley. However, the initial idea was to bring him in on a free transfer in the summer, when his contract will expire.

The injury struggles have thus promoted Milan to carry out a blitz, hoping that the price tag will be significantly reduced given the contract situation. Having said that, as the report concludes, Tottenham are also interested in the 24-year-old and could also make a move in January.

Maxime Estève, who has been linked with the Rossoneri for many years now, is still at Montpellier and remains the Plan B for the centre-back position.
