Tuttosport: Milan consider bringing back El Shaarawy on a free transfer – the latest

AC Milan are looking for reinforcements on the left wing and Stephan El Shaarawy’s name has emerged as a potential target, a report claims.

El Shaarawy has had a spell at Milan from 2011 to 2015 and Tuttosport (via MilanNews) says a return cannot be ruled out. His contract with Roma is about to expire and for now come on the Giallorossi have not put forward any renewal offers and so the Rossoneri are evaluating the possibility of bringing him back.

He could be the alternative to Rafael Leao on the left, given the increasingly probable departures of Ante Rebic and Divock Origi in the summer window which means Milan need a new players for that role.

The Italian forward is also admired by the management for his tactical flexibility given he can play multiple roles, as well as the fact he would count as a home-grown player which is an added value when compiling UEFA squad lists.

El Shaarawy has never hidden his desire to stay in Rome where he feels great: “After the season and the Europa League final we will certainly sit down to talk about my renewal. The club knows what my intentions are.”

However, Roma have not yet spoken with him and his entourage and so some clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation. In addition to Milan, it seems Inter and some clubs abroad are keen.
