Watch: Replay shows referee and VAR were right to allow Pulisic’s winner for Milan

Christian Pulisic scored the winner for AC Milan in the game against Genoa with a lovely left-footed strike. There was a suspected handball, but a video shows that the referee and VAR were right to allow the goal.

The American winger first received the ball and then turned, before firing the ball into the back of the net. Just before his strike, there was a possible handball and a VAR check was carried out for several minutes after the goal.

However, as shown in the video below, all of the images available to VAR were inconclusive. It’s tough to tell if it really did hit his arm, or if it hit the chest (and if it hit his arm, where?). Therefore, VAR’s decision to rely on the referee’s initial assessment was correct.
