Chelsea are ready to use AC Milan’s interest in Guela Doue as a way to get back at them after the Mike Maignan pursuit, a report claims.
It seemed last month as though Maignan was almost certain to join Chelsea as several major sources claimed that the goalkeeper was pushing for the move. However, things then fell apart quickly as there was no agreement over the transfer fee.

Chelsea wanted to get the deal done before the Club World Cup but would not pay a premium. The bid they put forward was not accepted, and now there is talk of Milan and Massimiliano Allegri trying to reopen the renewal route.

Milan want to sign a right-back this summer and one of the names they are keen on is Guela Doué, who is at Strasbourg player and is the brother of PSG star Desiré.
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri have already submitted two offers for him, the second for €18m, but the French club still do not deem it to be enough to give the green light.
One of the factors at play is that Strasbourg share ownership with Chelsea. The Blues have not forgotten how Milan demanded at least €20m for Maignan in June despite his contractual situation.
The paper adds: “Bow there could be this sort of ‘revenge’ by haggling over the price for Doué, who is the number one target.”
How was Mike close to joining Chelsea if there was no agreement on the transfer fee? That seems a critical part of the agreement lol. So the media is just making things up as always to cause trouble.

Complete BS, Chelsea don’t have problem paying 50 mil EUR for just promising players, they have loads of money.
If they really wanted to push for Maignan, they would have offered 25mil easily. Even that price would be a bargain for Mike. They just didn’t want to.

Milan and Chelsea have done plenty of business over the last couple of years. I doubt Chelsea owners hold a grudge over the Maignan negotiations when it was they who didn’t want to pay extra few millions over €15 m for a GK they wanted. Then they turn around and sell one of their GKs Djordje Petrovic for 25m pounds.

Nonsense as usual. Chelsea aren’t short on cash. They couldve easily paid 20mil or more for a starting GK at Mike’s level, they just wanted to see if they could get a bargain and were told no. End of.
They sold RLC and Pulisic, players who were a surplus to their squads, who played well, not consistently or at a high enough level to maintain their places, also injury prone for 18 and million euros.
Demanding 25 for a young and healthy player, relative to their previous prices, and current market, is reasonable.

MM16 has a year left on his contract! It would be a different ball game if he has 4 years left. Chelsea would definitely have upped their offer — if they really want to sign him. This is the reason why Club Brugge can hold on to Jashari.
