AC Milan’s performance against Monza continues to divide opinion, and a report has claimed that it even extended into the press conference room post-match.
MilanNews talks about ‘two opposing factions’ that were created among experts, commentators and fans. On the one hand, there are those who consider the result satisfactory regardless of the performance, on the other, there are those who are considerably worried.
The head coach Paulo Fonseca is part of the first group. It was the Portuguese coach himself, after all, who made his stance clear in post-match interviews, in which he praised the team for how they ‘offensively dominated’ the games, managing the key moments of the match well.
Many, however, disagree with the coach. Many feel the victory was lucky as Malick Thiaw himself admitted, also helped by the referee’s decision on the goal from Dany Mota that was disallowed, and it certainly was not a harbinger of a great future.
In the press room at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, discussions on the issue were heated. Fonseca, as anticipated, said he was very convinced of his team’s match, even if his own player Youssouf Fofana declared that the team didn’t do well.
The Frenchman found support from several team-mates who also agree that the the victory is fine, the three points are fine, but yesterday’s performance – from a structural and stylistic point of view – was not at all positive and does not leave great expectations for the near future.
