Matteo Moretto has revealed that a dinner took place in which AC Milan secured Massimiliano Allegri, after pitching the project to him.
Earlier on Friday, Milan officially announced that Allegri has become the new head coach, returning 11 years after his previous stint. He will take over from Sergio Conceicao, who joined on December 30 but lasted just a few months, with confirmation arriving on Thursday that he had left.

Allegri is a winner: he has six Scudetti on his personal honours board – one with Milan and five with Juventus – plus three Supercoppa Italiani (again one with the Rossoneri, the rest with the Bianconeri) and holds the record for Coppa Italia wins with five.
Moretto spoke on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel about the announcement that Allegri has become the new coach of Milan, offering further background on the talks.
“Milan have made their choice. A two-year contract plus one at five million euros net for Allegri. The feeling that it could really be closed was born yesterday, because in Milan they realised that Conte was staying at Napoli, and Milan accelerated,” he said (via MilanNews).
“Wednesday evening there was a dinner between Ibra, Tare and Allegri and there the foundations were laid for the agreement. Tare went strong on this type of choice: a central figure, someone who manages everything well. Someone who, if you take him, you can’t go wrong.”
