ESPN: Giroud signs contract with LAFC – the terms of the deal

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has signed his contract with MLS side Los Angeles FC which will see him enter a new phase of his career away from Europe for the first time.

According to ESPN, the deal will see Giroud join LAFC in mid-July and he will it will run until December 2025 as a designated foreign player.

There have been weeks of negotiations between LAFC and Giroud, as well as various offers from Saudi Arabian clubs and others within Europe. Giroud reportedly got an offer from Cesc Fabregas to join Como, which he opted against.

Giroud is expected to earn around €3m per season at LAFC and he met with the co-president in Milan to sign the contract, rather than fly out to America whilst Milan’s season is still ongoing.

The 37-year-old has got 13 goals and eight assists so far this season in Serie A which shows he can still perform at a very high level, meaning LAFC fans have every right to be very excited about the signing.

With Giroud leaving, Milan need to find a new striker to be the first choice ahead of Luka Jovic and a long list of names are being scouted, with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee at the top.

  1. Almost tempted to get a Giroud shirt just to commemorate his contributions at Milan. It was a great run by the Frenchie.

  2. Sorry to see Giroud leave. Now, the management will pay 40 million euros or more for some player who will score between 0-3 goals and with no assists instead of keeping Giroud for another year or two. Then they will say the new acquisition is a flop and will sell it next year for 15 millions if they are lucky…

  3. Next who will leave are Pioli, Mike, Theo, Leao, Tomori, Kjaer, Florenzi, and Benna.

Season 24-25 will be fun 😃

  4. Yes thank you Olivier Giroud…hold your head up high .we won the scuddeto with your contributions .
Wish you well …sure you will be with France at the euros …

  5. Ollie should be wildly successful in the MLS Retirement League where goalkeepers are Very Bad, and defensive play is nearly non-existent.

  6. Wonderful player. Sad to see him go. He fought and bled for the shirt. A true leader and clutch player. Congrats Olivier and THANK YOU!!!
