Sky: Conceicao ‘the chosen one’ by Milan as next 48 hours are decisive

By Isak Möller -

Sergio Conceicao is ‘the chosen one’ by AC Milan for the post-Stefano Pioli era, according to reports this afternoon. Contacts are proceeding between the parties and the upcoming two days are set to be decisive.

Milan have been following Conceicao for quite some time but their interest was fueled by the presidential election at Porto. Andre Villas-Boas won and will thus take the position of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, who had signed a renewal with the manager days before.

According to Peppe Di Stefano of Sky Italia, speaking live on air earlier, the latest is the following: “Milan are on Sergio Conceicao, who will most likely be the one chosen by the club. To date, this seems to be the direction, barring sensational second thoughts”.

Manuele Baiocchini, also of Sky Italia, tweeted an update just moments ago stating the contacts are progressing on good terms between Milan and Jorge Mendes. The next 48 hours should be decisive in trying to find an agreement, per the journalist, with the negotiations now advanced.

It remains to be seen if these reports will be confirmed by other sources, with some suggesting that Milan currently aren’t close to deciding their next manager (even if evaluations are ongoing).

  1. So they put the brakes on Lopetegui for Conceicao? Does that mean he was one of their top choices all along?

Didn’t make sense that they pulled a U-Turn on Lopetegui because of fan reaction. That would be idiotic.

    1. There were many media outlets reporting Milan had an agreement with Lopetegui, also people close to Lopetegui told how shocked he is due to protest against him. Something was clearly cooking. Luckily it overcooked.

    2. Everything they’ve done after firing Maldini has been chaotic.

Moneyball Moncada is running around buying cheapos for our club that don’t fit in nor are the positions we need – but hey, we can resell them for a profit.

We signed Reijnders who can’t pass well despite the fact that it’s supposedly his main attribute. He can’t pass vertically or sideways. Can’t play D and can’t shoot either. Why again did we sign him? Failed at AM, moved to DM. Failed at DM. Moved to bench. Still sucks off bench but Piololololol doesn’t care anymore.

Count the number of games for our outstanding double pivot midfielders.

How many games? goals? assists? It’s bad. Now, remove the small teams and just focus on the big games. Even worse.

We can’t even hire a good coach despite all the ones on the market this year. We target the losers of the entire bunch.

Moneyball Moncada & Cardinales have ruined the squad that was built by M&M to get us back to the top of serie A and back into CL.

Now? We’re getting spanked by Roma and mocked by Inter. Even Sassuolo is like, we could beat them again.

But you, you think they are just doing a great job. Maybe take your mouth off them for a few seconds and come up for air and look around.

      1. Maldini was the one that made terrible decisions after winning Scudetto. Everyone on the planet knew Milan desperately needed right winger – what did he do? Signed everyone but a right winger. Gave one of the biggest contracts in Serie A to Origi, where everyone knew he was mediocre at best (Milan will have to deal with him until 2026). Signing guys like Dest? Not even to mention burning almost 40 milions EUR for Ketelaere who showed nothing… Love Maldini, but be honest, as directeur he was making obvious and terrible mistakes. Now the team is way more balanced and stronger, without real “holes” in the squad. All is needed is a right coach as Pioli seems to be burned out, and quality replacements for Giroud/Kjaer and I’d also like to see an upgrade for Jovic.

    3. Tell us one achievement NOpetegui had in his coaching career ?.. he was just lucky to have coach the national team and spanish giant clubs.

  2. Sergio Conceicao, with his extensive experience and success at FC Porto, seems to be a strong candidate for the Milan coaching position. Having been in charge of the Dragons since June 8, 2017, he has won three league titles, three cups, three super cups, and the first league cup in Porto’s history. His primary formations are 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2, which could potentially blend well with Milan’s current squad.

Conceicao’s philosophy emphasizes a strong defense and a counter-attacking style, which has been effective in achieving success at Porto. His teams are known for their discipline, tactical awareness, and ability to perform under pressure. This approach could be well-suited to the demands of Italian football and the expectations at a club like Milan.

Better than a nobody like Van Bommel

    1. Since 2017 is crucial in that though. 3 championships with Porto in 7 years is good but also not mind blowing.
I mean more or less a championship every other years is a reasonable ask with Porto.

He could easily end up being a draw merchant in Serie A if his football is too defensive.
Also disciplin is nothing thst goes that well with our players, Leao, Theo, RLC to sone degree Pulisic need freedom to performe.

    2. “a strong defense and a counter-attacking style”

Which is our style, minus the strong defense, so this should be a good thing.

  3. Van Bommel is hardly a nobody. He was one of the best midfielders on the planet at a time. He is new to coaching though but he certainly isn’t a nobody. These kids have 0 respect. The man won titles with Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSV while being one of the best defensive midfielders on the planet.

    1. When he said nobody.. he is talking bout coaching career. We shouldnnot be mixing these two up. Being a good and successful player doesn’t warrant you being a good and successful coach..

      Rooney
      Seadort
      Brocchi
      Terry
      Lampard

      Name it all

Well that being said,. I so much agree with Nairda analysis

  4. Sergio is the correct choice however, he’s a brilliant coach, and has vital Calcio experience, also his son is pretty damn good and I wouldn’t mind him joining in future. I wonder if it would be the first son of a former Inter player to join Milan in that case.

  5. He’s better than lopeteguie for sure, but we should still be trying for Motta as top priority, de zerbie as well. Motta is proven in the league already

    1. So far De Zerbi was a one-season wonder, nothing more. Went to Brighton just to achieve mediocre results with mediocre team, not to mention humiliating loses like 1-6 against Aston Villa, 0-4 against Luton or 0-3 against Bournemouth or Luton (not to even mention stronger teams like City, Lpool or Arsenal). Motta so far shows way bigger potential, he did more in 1 season with Bologna than De Zerbi in his whole Serie A carreer.

    2. Everyone keep wanting Motta!

Mind you this is Motta first experience as a coach and someone like him can only manage a midtable team like Bologna but not Big and ambitious club like Milan with so many objectives.

      To Winning the league
To win champions league or get to semifinal
      To make top four
      To win the cup
To win against all top teams in the league
      Must win the derbies
      Must win all rivalry matches…

Motta to me seems to be a one season magic and luck.

Going for him might be a very huge mistake the management will forever regret.

Conceicao had coached in every competition of European championships he has all the experience required and Milan already have the tools that suited his type of football just 2 to 4 additional players will be needed in vital roll.

      1. Your argument about experience shows you know NOTHING about Milan. Sacchi and Capello didn’t have experience at a major club before coaching Milan. Nor did Guardiola. Stop talking crap.

  6. Conceicao might be just the right person for what Milan needs at the moment. He is good tactically, and has the right mentality – some might say he is a bit crazy, but maybe that’s what Milan needs after blant Pioli. A fierce coach with a will to win, guy that will live the games and his job, unlike Pioli who will lose 1-5 to Inter just to shrug and say “but we had good ball possesion percentage”. Conceicao won everything in Portugal, and as well in Champions League showed he can tactically outsmart way bigger teams, won with Arsenal, Atletico, Milan itself, threw Juve and Roma out of quarter finals. I’d give him a chance at Milan.

  7. I agree with Capello commented regarding with porto coach . He is fantastic coach . he build highly energetic team with winning mentality
