AC Milan goalkeeper handed one-game ban and €5K fine after insulting referee

Torino managed to come back from behind to win 2-1 against AC Milan last night, and after their equaliser in the second half, Pepe Reina made it known that he wasn’t satisfied with the refereeing, screaming insults from the bench.

As a result of this, Marco Guida showed him the red card. However, this didn’t have any effect on the game, of course, as Donnarumma played from start. Today, the sporting judge (via MilanNews.it) issued the Spaniard’s punishment.

According to the press release, Reina will serve a one-game suspension for the red card. In addition, he will also have to pay a €5K fine as a result of the insults towards the referee, which were deemed ‘disrespectful’.

Before Belotti scored the equaliser, Milan wanted a free-kick at the other end as Calhanoglu quite clearly was brought to the ground by Rincon. However, the referee decided to let the play go on, thus upsetting the Rossoneri players.
