CM: Milan have €50m-rated Mexico star on their list – assist arrives from Lozano

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have Santiago Gimenez on their list of targets for the striker position and they might just have received an assist from Hirving Lozano.

Calciomercato.com have published a report about the future of Gimenez, remarking that the Feyenoord striker is destined to be at the centre of a lot of stories between now and the window opening.

His compatriot Lozano – formerly of Napoli – spoke to the Mexican source TUDN about what Gimenez should do in view of next season, given the probable departure of Arne Slot as Feyenoord boss.

“Should Gimenez have to leave Feyenoord? Well, I think so. The truth is that he played two very big seasons here in Holland, it’s not easy but I think that he should take the next step,” he said.

“It would be a good test for him and I wish him the best. I think Serie A is complicated, especially for the attackers because it is a league in which you work a lot on the defensive phase and it is very tough, but I think. that he can also score in Italy.”

Where could he end up? The report claims that Napoli have Gimenez on their list as a potential replacement for the outgoing Victor Osimhen, but Milan must also sign a striker and have been watching the Mexico international.

The most popular names are Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna, Jonathan David of Lille and Benjamin Sesko of Leipzig, but Geoffrey Moncada also had talks with Gimenez’s entourage last month.

It is logical that a player with 26 goals and 8 assists in 41 seasonal games could attract a lot of interest, and the fact he renewed last August until 2027 means an outlay of around €50m will be needed.

  1. He didn’t play two big seasons at Feyenoord. In total he played one, cause also this last half year he sucks. 50 million never… Max 25.

      1. In the Eredivisie, the sixth competition. And most of the goals he made this year was in the first season half. Maybe you can watch some games of Feyenoord this last season half and you will understand.

        1. Did he score 26 goals or not.

Forget whether it was half the year or what have yous, plus he has returned to scoring ways.

I would vastly prefer him to pavlidis or any other name been paraded around here.

          1. Again, watch some games of him (not a compilation) and you will see he isn’t bij far the level we want right now.

      2. At the same time Pavlidis has been bombing for 3 years and is worth 20-25M. And for a “weaker” team..
        Yeah, gimenez is overrated…

  2. No mexicans please, zero winning mentality or desire to improve. Lozano has been the best of them in maybe 20 years and he is not that good

  3. He rides the bench on the national team.
Overrated. One of those who always has future “potential.”
    Not good enough for Milan.

    1. Whose fault is that.
His or the coach who cannot even organize his own team.

The Mexican national football team has flalalen off these past few times, and even when they have the quality they don’t play them due to one bias or the other.
