Conti to skip Lazio matchup as a precaution

By Grégory Leclercq -

Andrea Conti was subbed off in the 49th minute for Italy against Israel on Tuesday. Thankfully, the injury is not as serious as first thought.

AC Milan released an official statement that Andrea Conti suffered a “slightly sprained ankle” in the match-up against Israel.

The club also acknowledged that Conti was already walking without pain, as he also drove himself to the examination centre and that further examination would occur if necessary.

Several reliable sources including Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia are revealing that it is likely the player is put to rest this weekend and will therefore not play against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

There’s a higher chance to see the full-back back in action in the first game of Europa League against Austria Wien next Thursday in Vienna.

Conti will be an important asset for Montella all season long and it’s no surprise the staff don’t want to take any risk with the player, who cost the club a hefty €25m.
