CorSera: Coach, sales and signings – Milan have ‘one month to decide everything’

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan face a very intense month ahead away from the pitch with decisions to be made on the coach, players to sign in the summer, and who could be let go to raise money.

As reported by Corriere della Sera (via Radio Rossonera), it will be a month of change at Casa Milan that will certainly bleed into the rest of the summer.

The most important decision to make is on the coach, with Stefano Pioli expected to be dismissed come the end of the season after a campaign that has not lived up to early expectations.

A whole host of names such as Thiago Motta, Roberto De Zerbi, Paulo Fonseca, Sergio Conceicao, Julen Lopetegui and more have been linked with the role that is not yet vacant.

It is not easy for the club to press ahead with their transfer strategy when there is uncertainty over the coach, so that must be decided first.

In terms of transfers, Milan must prepare to lose the experience of Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer this summer, and then react by signing at least one quality striker, and perhaps a new midfielder and central defender.

Among all that, players like Mike Maignan, Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez are being watched by some big clubs.

  1. It’s a joke to even mention Fonseca, Conceicao or Lopetegui as candidates. Very embarrassing in my opinion indicating how an average team and with no vision Milan has become.

    1. Bayern Munich is about to hire Ralf Ragnick, who in the last 13 years has coached only for 3 years and hasn’t won anything, but Milan being interested in Sergio Conceicao, who is the 2nd most successful coach ever in Portuguese league is embarrassing?
Conceicao qualified for the knockout stages of the UCL in every year except when they were in the group of death 3 years ago, along with Liverpool, atletico, and Milan. They finished ahead of Milan after winning one and drawing the other game.
They were rag rolling inter last year in the round of 16, but they missed a ton of chances.
He would be a very good hire also because he knows the league since he played in serie A.

      1. The disaster queens are out in full force again predicting catastrophes around every corner…it’s gonna be a loooong summer.

      2. Thank you. Some people are just complainers. bring Pep or Carletto back and they’d still complain. Plus, regardless of who they pick, it’s a hit/miss at best. Bayern thought they had their man who has been successful at chelsea, PSG and he failed. ManU has hired a ton of coaches who had been successful and failed, Berlusconi back in the day appointed a shoe salesman with little experience and won everything. So, we can bring pep or ancelotti and it will still be a 50/50 on how successful they can be. I mean, Carletto failed at Everton, pep sort of failed at bayern

      3. Rangnick is a legend in Germany and highly respected there. It is a completely different scenario to compare that appointment to Conceicao
