CorSport: Torino reject Napoli offer for Milan target Buongiorno but Cairo offers hope

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been repeatedly linked with a move for Alessandro Buongiorno over the past few weeks and there have been some fresh developments.

As Calciomercato.com report, Napoli are set for a summer of big changes. They will bring in a new sporting director, a new head coach and the squad will require some fresh blood too, with Buongiorno right at the top of their list.

They cite a report from Corriere dello Sport who claim that Napoli have made an offer of €35m as a fixed sum plus €5m in bonuses. However, for Torino this is not enough, as they want €45m to sell their captain.

In the meantime, Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on the defender and would have no problem investing such a sum. Not only that, Napoli also have to beat the competition from Milan and Inter.

The president of Torino – Urbano Cairo – was asked about the future of Buongiorno during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, and he stopped short of confirming that he will definitely stay into 2024-25.

“Last year we kept him: he was happy, I was happier than him. If Buongiorno stays, I will be very happy,” he said.

  1. I dont understand why here on this website he’s always referred to as Torino’s captain.. i never saw Torino’s matches, but sources say it’s Ric Rodriguez who’s the captain.
