DAZN: Milan make fresh contact for Lille striker amid Napoli interest

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have made fresh contact with French side Lille for striker Jonathan David, who has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli in recent weeks.

As has been reported by DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando on X, Milan have been in contact with David’s agent recently to better understand his feelings about a summer move.

The expectation is that the Canadian will certainly leave Lille this summer, given he will soon have just one year left on his contract and has shown no interest in a renewal.

It had seemed recently that Napoli had made a decisive move for David as they are expecting Victor Osimhen to leave the club, but this report claims that Milan are ahead of the Azzurri in the race.

The fact that Napoli won’t get into the Champions League and Milan almost certainly will is presumably a factor. Lille coach Paulo Fonseca is being linked with the Milan job in the event that Stefano Pioli is sacked, so that could encourage David to make the same move.

There are plenty of other attacking targets available to Milan such as Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. David and Guirassy are the cheaper options.

    1. Think again about their supposedly valuation, and their contract. And then how much they will be bought next summer. Maybe you can deduct the answer from there.

      According to transfermarkt
      Osimhen 110m, contract till 2026.
David 50m, contract till 2025 (last year next season)

    2. both answers are cr*p and in no way tackle the root of my question

Just because some can pay more doesnt mean they have to buy the thing that costs more…
