FcIN: Torino captain happy to join Milan or Inter this summer – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

It looks like being a derby between AC Milan and Inter to sign Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino this summer, according to a report.

FcInterNews are reporting that Inter have a concrete interest in signing Buongiorno to bolster the options available to Simone Inzaghi and his three-man defender, while Torino have set a €40m asking price.

One solution for Inter to raise funds could be the sale of Valentin Carboni who is valued at around €30m, or they could try a paid loan with an obligation to buy like for Davide Frattesi. The use of counterparts in the operation cannot be ruled out either.

Buongiorno wants to stay in Italy despite the fact that Tottenham, Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid have all come in for him, but he is not interested in joining Napoli due to the fact they will not offer Champions League football and will not cross the city divide to join Juventus.

The report adds that Milan ‘would be the ideal solution’ for the 24-year-old and he would have gone there in January had the clubs found an agreement, though he would join the Nerazzurri too knowing they have an ambitious project and plenty of his compatriots from the Italian national team.

An agreement would be easy to find on personal terms given that Buongiorno would cost around €2.5-3m net per season for a multi-year deal. He feels a strong attachment to Torino so will not force an exit, but he will happily go if Milan or Inter strike a deal the Granata are happy with.
