Giroud ‘happy’ to support teammates from the bench vs. Cagliari: “We want to win”

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Cagliari, which is set to kick off in less than 30 minutes, Olivier Giroud spoke to the media about the task at hand. He also shared his thoughts on the rotation.

Stefano Pioli and his players got back to winning ways last time out, beating Hellas Verona thanks to an early goal by Rafael Leao. The Portuguese winger will be on the bench, with Christian Pulisic taking his spot on the left.

Another usual starter who will be on the bench is Giroud, who spoke to MilanTV ahead of the game (via MilanNews). He stated that he will continue to lead this team, even from the bench, and expressed his trust in those starting.

On the game…

“We have to do well today, we want the three points. We have faith in everyone, those who start today are ready to score goals and assists. I’m happy to be here today, even on the bench, to support my teammates.”

On the group…

“I’m going to talk in the locker room, it doesn’t take much, but the important thing is to have a united group. Today we know how important it is for Cagliari to win, but we are here to win as well and to continue to be at the top of the table. We won’t give up anything, we’re excited and we want to win.”

Scudetto or Champions League?

“Both. The first year we had a great season in the league, the second a great Champions League season, and this year we want to do well in both. The objective is to get through the Champions League group and stay close to Inter in the league. We want to do well in both competitions and we have the quality to do so. We are competitive.”

Due to Rade Krunic’s injury, Yacine Adli will be the starting No.6 for Milan tonight and it will be very interesting to see the Frenchman. It will be his first appearance of the season and many fans have been waiting for this.
