Kalulu happy to get more minutes but ‘sorry’ over lack of attacking contribution

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu has admitted that he would like to contribute more from an attacking point of view, especially when he gets opportunities at full-back.

Milan travelled to Prague with a two-goal lead from the first leg after what was a dramatic encounter at San Siro, and there were some remarkable similarities that occurred in the return game.

Like back in Italy Slavia Praha got a red card inside the opening half an hour – this time because of a stamp from Holes on Davide Calabra – and Milan once again scored three goals before half-time.

Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao were the ones to get their names on the scoresheet, rendering Jurasék’s late strike a mere consolation as the Rossoneri went through 7-3 on aggregate following a 3-1 win on the night.

At the end of the game at the Fortuna Arena, Kalulu – who came off the bench at half-time to play right-back – spoke to Milan TV to give his thoughts on how the night went. MilanNews relaying his comments.

“We are happy to have won, it was important to score many goals in the first half and we must continue like this in the league too,” he said.

“I feel good, after a long time it wasn’t easy to get back on the pitch but now I’m here and I want to do well for the team and for our fans.

“I’m only sorry not to have got a goal or assist, I really want to create opportunities and be able to help my team-mates also from that point of view.”

Kalulu also then spoke to Sky after the game, and he gave a bit more information on what it was like to be out for so long.

“These are the moments I was waiting for and that I’m happy to have. Then I have to get into rhythm and minutes, but I’m happy to be on the pitch. My thoughts are always positive,” the Frenchman added.

“The injury was tough, you’re never prepared for these things and it’s difficult, but then when you start playing again you come back happy.”
