Milan head into UCL quarters with confidence after 4-0 trashing of Napoli

By SempreMilan -

AC Milan secured an essential and well-deserved 4-0 win against Napoli with a stunning performance just over a week ago. The perfect build-up to the Champions League tie.

The match started with chances at both ends, but it was AC Milan who took the leading the 17th minute with a goal from Rafa Leão, who then scored his second of the night after the break. Brahim Díaz and Alexis Saelemaekers scored a goal each, making it a comfortable 4-0 victory for the Rossoneri.

The game saw Stefano Pioli return to the 4-2-3-1 formation, with Ismaël Bennacer starting further up the field and Rade Krunić inserted into the double pivot alongside Tonali. This was a necessary win in the top-four race in Serie A, especially since Milan only got a 0-0 draw against Empoli.

In the match, Milan displayed some wonderful skill and managed possession well, with Brahim, in particular, causing problems for Napoli’s defence. The hosts had some chances of their own but were unable to convert. The Rossoneri comfortably saw out the match and even threatened a counter-attack towards the end. Maignan’s concentration and dedication ensured a clean sheet for Milan.

However, it was AC Milan who took the lead in the 17th minute through Rafa Leão’s goal, followed by Brahim Díaz’s strike in the 25th minute.

Milan managed to control the game well after doubling their lead, almost adding a third goal through Brahim before the end of the first half. In the second half, Milan continued to create opportunities, with Leão and Giroud both having chances to score. Napoli tried to fight back, but goalkeeper Maignan made some crucial saves to keep them at bay.
