MN: Attacking duo to battle it out for starting spot in Milan vs. Lazio

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli will revert to his usual starting XI for the game between AC Milan and Lazio this weekend. Having said that, there are still one or two doubts for the manager and especially in attack.

Milan failed to claim all three points at home against Cremonese last night after Pioli made seven changes to the starting XI. For the game against Lazio, though, the stars will be back from the first minute for the Rossoneri.

As reported by MilanNews, the only battle is between Brahim Diaz and Junior Messias. The Spaniard missed two great chances against Cremonese while the Brazilian scored the crucial equaliser, increasing his chances.

The likes of Simon Kjaer (Thiaw also has a chance), Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Sandro Tonali, Rade Krunic, Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud will be back from start. Milan need to claim all three points to have a chance of finishing in the top four, by the looks of it.

  1. At this point I think Diaz can go back to Madrid. He’s not worth the 25m they’re asking. He has not shown anywhere near the progression that Leao and Theo have in the same time frame. He’s a decent player but we need more out of the positions he plays.

    1. Saelemaekers and Messias are 5 x times better than Diaz. When you compare money needed to invest in Diaz and money Milan already invested in Sale and Messi, with goal contribution, you see how buying Diaz is wasted money.

In next season it is best to play Bennacer as a ACM and Krunic with Tonali as a central midfielder and save money from Diaz gambling.

      1. Diaz should go man. CDK might be able to achieve his true potential then. He was far better than Diaz in the previous game. We should also replace the manager he don’t know how to rotate we are not the the semi finals of UCL because Pioli is a good manager it is because of inividual performances by our star players like Mike, Theo, Leao etc.

    2. Brahim weakness if opponent team play too defensive with low block and no space to drible. He is good if opponent go full atacking like napoli, manc city, real madrid . Since AC Milan will often meet defensive club rather than atacking club, better not to buy brahim from Real madrid . Just switch to 433 without AMF but using tonali ,bennacer ,SMS ( dream rumour with 1 years contract left in lazio) or pobega . Bench for midfield : Krunic ,Aster, and new midfield

  2. this is what i was talking about when people were praising diaz when he played good against napoli. Milan needs a player that will play good all the time. Diaz in 3 years at Milan has not been that player.
As for Lazio game, Salad should start and Messias on after an hour if need be. Zaccagni and Marusic are gonna bully Diaz of the ball like he wasnt there

  3. I’m so tired of seeing Diaz in the lineup. Just because he scored a lucky goal against Tottenham everyone forgot about the fact that he has a good game once every 10 games. That is not good enough. He isn’t worth a bag of peanuts. I swear if they cough up 20 million euros to buy this toddler I will stop following the team. He gets pushed off the ball with a gust of wind and couldn’t score that header because he was always going to be under it, he is too damn short. Period.

  4. Diaz is okay. A player can have a bad day with the wrong set of players like CDK and Origi. Those two can kill Diaz flow.
