Montolivo to Premium: “Some people will never like me”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo conceded that some people will ‘never like him’ despite the Rossoneri‘s 2-0 win over Lazio.

Carlos Bacca opened the scoring in the first half before an M’Baye Niang penalty with under 20 minutes left secured back-to-back league wins for Milan for the first time since February.

“We are happy, as we faced the game well apart from the opening 10 minutes,” Montolivo told Mediaset Premium.

“It was a good game, played as a team, and this solid spirit we’ve had for the last two matches is what we need going forward.

“Lazio have quality, so it was a balanced encounter. We did well to be clinical and efficient. Against Fiorentina at the weekend it’ll be a key match for European qualification, which is an objective we want to achieve.”

Montolivo was jeered before the match, but he admitted this is something he has learned to live with.

“Criticism is understandable and the San Siro crowd is very demanding. I expect there are some people who will never like me, but there’s nothing I can do about that.”
