Moretto: Milan looking to resolve No.9 issue – the latest on Zirkzee and Jovic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are planning for next season with Luka Jovic being a part of the squad, a journalist has claimed, while the number one target for the striker role has been confirmed.

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto for the Daily Briefing, Jovic is likely to sit down with his entourage and the Milan management this month to discuss the future.

It is quite a busy period at Casa Milan given the need to identify and secure Stefano Pioli’s successor – something that could also influence the decision regarding Jovic – but talks are on the agenda.

Some signings or deals could be delayed a little, but the management are already in talks with the striker’s agent and they are speaking about a possible agreement for him to stay, with both sides appear ‘keen to get a deal done’.

Olivier Giroud is leaving, the plan is still to sign a striker and the number one option is Joshua Zirkzee, as Fabrizio Romano also stated, and then to have Jovic as the second striker.

Jovic arrived on deadline day during the last summer transfer window and he has nine goals to his name since joining, earning the reputation of being an impact player off the bench.

  1. Jovic is literally a second striker as in he plays off the #9 in a front 2.

He’s not viable as a back up.

Look at it this way, what happens if the target #9 gets injured for a few months when Jovic starts?
