Though it’s not exactly a surprise, AC Milan have decided to sack Marco Giampaolo after a very poor start to the season, as was announced on the club’s website this evening.
“AC Milan announces that it has relieved Marco Giampaolo of his role as manager of the first team. The club intends to thank Marco for the activity carried out so far and wishes him the best professional successes,” the statement read.
The former Sampdoria boss joined the Rossoneri back in June, meaning his spell with the San Siro side only lasted for four months. As said, however, it was coming since he only won three of the first seven games of the season.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, among other sources, Milan are ready to announce Stefano Pioli as the new manager. In fact, he will sign a two-year deal in the coming hours, valued at €1.5m per year.
The Rossoneri faithful aren’t exactly happy with the arrival of Pioli, starting the hashtag #PioliOut on Twitter even though he hasn’t even been announced yet. In fact, the hashtag was trending worldwide earlier today, and it’s still doing so in Italy.
