Official: Chaka Traore completes move to Palermo on loan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have completed yet another deadline day exit as young winger Chaka Traore will head to Palermo on an initial loan deal.

On their official website, Milan have confirmed that Traore will be heading to Palermo for the reason of the 2023-24 season in a bid to get some more playing time.

Traore had a fantastic start to the year, scoring against Cagliari in the Coppa Italia and then against Empoli in the league, but the feeling is that he needs more guaranteed minutes to aid his development.

The 19-year-old was linked with moves to both Lausanne in Switzerland and West Bromwich Albion in England, but he is going to Sicily.

Di Marzio reports that the Rosanero have closed the purchase of the Ivorian on an initial loan deal with an option to buy set at €10m plus a 15% resale clause in favour of Milan. There was no mention of a buy-back in the report either.

The teenager has made two league appearances for Milan so far this season as well as one in the Coppa Italia and even a Champions League debut too.

It was back in April 2021 he made his league debut for Parma in a 3–1 loss against Milan – the team he would then join – and he also became the first 2004-born player to play in Serie A.

  1. wow huge profit, next summer let sell Camarda for another 10m. this season profit is great achievement better than the 2nd★ or even CL trophy

  2. This management team has no direction.

Why give the option? We will sell Leao most likely this summer or next so why not groom this talent in the interim? What is 10M going to buy you but another young unproven prospect.

    Terrible

    1. 10 million can buy you a proven prospect if you know where to look. If you add a little bit more from the budget, this can broaden your spectrum with hundreds of players to choose from.

  3. Not every youth player is going to be Maldini; take a chill pill everyone. The only true gem we have in our primevera is camadra, everyone else most likely will turn out to be at most average serie b level players. That’s just the statistics.

  4. 9/10 of you are no aware of buy cheap sell expensive. This is a huge profit. You build to last. Growth, feasible transactions. In order to become great. Business, not passion.

    1. So… You sell a player who has shown his quality and he can play in the Serie A. You sell him for profit. Fine.

Then you go out and buy someone to replace him. Probably even 1-3 players with potential (and low price obviously). The history tells us the 3 players will most likely turn out to be “not that great” and they’ll end up doing nothing for the team and won’t even make any profit when leaving.

And even if one of the replacements did end up looking good, we’d sell him ASAP for some million euros. Again. And the cycle continues. Does that sound like a plan to have continuity & win trophies?

Traore gone for mere 10M€. I think he will turn out to be worth much, much more in the future.

        1. That just emphasizes my point. It’s VERY rare that Milan sells young players for profit – or good money. One in twenty? If even that.

  5. I don’t know how options work. Can we turn them down or do we have to accept a 10m bid if they make one?

He looks a good player to me. He’s not one of those 19 year olds who’s as good as complete, but he’s strong and direct which I think makes him a different alternative to Leao than Okafor.

  6. Best transfer this window. The player now has an opportunity to develop himself, while the club has a chance of obtaining 10 million.

    Win win.
