Official: Milan announce Maldini has joined Empoli on an initial loan deal

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have officially announced that Daniel Maldini has joined Empoli on a loan deal ahead of the 2023/24 Serie A season.

The loan deal was made official by a statement on the club website on Monday afternoon, confirming that the son of Paolo Maldini will not be a part of the first team under Stefano Pioli next season.

There is an option for Empoli to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, and Milan have also inserted a buy-back clause.

He spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Spezia but could not stop the Ligurian side from getting relegated to Serie B.

Maldini has made 24 appearances for the Milan first time during his career, the first of which came in the 2019/20 season. The 21-year-old got one goal for the first team which came against Spezia in the 2021/22 Scudetto winning season.

Maldini is one of multiple players that could leave Milan in the near future as the club looks to trim the squad.

  1. Good luck dude, even though I doubt it but I strongly wish you to perform there and develop to be a Milan-level player.

  2. Hope he does well, but hope he joins Atalanta instead of becoming permanent at Empoli.
    He suits Gasperini’s attacking style
