Sky: Probable Milan XI to face Chelsea – only one change from Juventus

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli could be set to make just one change from the eleven that faced Juventus at the weekend for the game against Chelsea on Tuesday night, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia on Monday evening, it seems likely that Rade Krunic will come into the starting eleven in place of Tommaso Pobega and that will be the only change to the starting team.

Milan got a very impressive 2-0 win against a lacklustre Juventus side on Saturday evening which was the perfect prep for the match against Chelsea at San Siro which takes place at 21:00 local time on Tuesday.

That means that Ciprian Tatarusanu will continue to deputise for the injured Mike Maignan, and Matteo Gabbia will keep his place in the back four along with Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Theo Hernandez.

The midfield three will be Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali, and Krunic. The forwards will be Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud and Brahim Diaz.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Tatarusanu; Kalulu, Gabbia, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer, Krunic; Brahim Diaz, Leao, Giroud.

  1. If Pioli is going with the 433 for the moment, I would like to see a front 3 of Leao, Origi and Rebic. All interchanging between the wings and center forward.
Nothing against Giroud, love what he has done for Milan but he is too slow, and Chelsea physicality with be too much for Brahim

    1. Totally agree. But you know Pioli. He’s going to put Giroud then wakeup at 70mins to replace him.

Or better put Diaz as CF. Hes tiny. Any foul = penality . Mark my words

      1. Glad to see you’re still posting here. Yeah Pioli will never get it right, because he’s just an idiot, remember? And the last set-piece goal vs. Juve is just another luck in century for him.

    2. giroud is important for milan. even though he didn’t score a goal, the opposing defender was tightly guarded and other friends could freely. The problem is that other teammates don’t have good attacking qualities other than leao…

Just look at the first match that is heavily guarded is giroud and leao…
by looking at the strategy vs juve, i’m sure milan is hard to do much. Everyone idolizes diaz to play RW, that’s a big mistake. Throughout the first half against Juve, Milan’s right side had minimal contribution.
With conditions like this, a draw is enough for Milan.

    3. Giroud is one of the best goal scorer for Milan this season. Not just that but his physicality and aerial duel are very needed in the front when Milan plays long ball. It’s normal Pioli choose him as a starter.

So far Origi not yet scored a single goal or assist and when he got the opportunity to scored or make an assist he failed badly. He needs to up his game.

As for Rebic, Pioli already said he’s not in his best form after he got injured for one month. For now Rebic is better as a sub.

While Brahim can’t offer physicality but he can offer fast pace counter and dribble inside the box. His goal against Juve was because he can read Vlahovic miss pass.

  2. So what happened to the formation used on Saturday? I thought he’d utilize pobega again but Pioli must be Pioli. I hope we don’t get embarrassed at Sansiro

          1. LMAO, “not a Milan fan” bud I’ve been a Milan fan longer than you’ve been alive. I hope we can win, but personally I am not a fan of Krunic, now with Theo back I think we can do better but Krunic in my opinion 90% of the time brings nothing to the table. Sorry I’m not delusional

        1. Mate I’m not delusional, and I’m not going to put my hopes up if there’s a chance we get obliterated, hope we win and I think we can especially now with the hunger we have but I’m not going to put my hopes up for them to possibly be crushed

  3. People are way overestimating Chelsea. The game last week was just Milan playing very poorly, and even then Chelsea only scored off bad individual mistakes. I’m not saying it’s an easy Milan win, but at home Milan will play much much better and Chelsea will have to actually play well to get a result.

    1. I hope I am man, we need to prove a point. Personally we can beat them if we don’t make those sloppy passes, not a fan of Krunic but atleast he’s a fighter so hopefully he’ll show that tonight

  4. Milan will defeat Chelsea only two players caused the loss of Milan against Chelsea and pioli quickly realized his mistake against Juventus, the two are dest and balo toure, they should stop using both of them, they are not Milan type

  5. I think to play krunic as Amc is the best we have at the moment in UCL match. Pobega is too slow He doesn’t have the quality as amc, only phisicality. The rest is ok. We will beat chelsea 2-0. MILAN PER SEMPRE!!!

  6. I think we should jist go with the 4231 formation, the goalkeeper and the defenders are ok defensive mid should be tonali and bennacer, than
–leao– diaz–rebic and upfront should be giroud, origi didn’t show much ever since his arrival maybe he can get some minutes in the 2nd half.. I’m sure with that squad we will defeat Chelsea we just need to be attacking

    1. No doubt in my mind Olivier Giroud is absolute great man ,with quick feet and amazing technical ability in the 18 yard area ,and has great physical strength..
Yes he was quiet against Chelsea in the first leg ,but let’s face it the service to him was not that great ..I am expecting a much better performance from him ,and indeed the team ..lots more goals to come from Olivier Giroud, make no mistake about that .I expect us to win tonight ,and indeed for Olivier to score .
We have a great team ..keep believing.

  7. Let’s be positive,,in the first match against Chelsea we did not play well ,we made to many errors ..We lacked conviction and belief …I believe we will see a much better performance tonight .I also believe we will win.
Olivier Giroud is the man to lead the line ,make no mistake about that ,if he has the correct service .He has awesome physical strength and his hold up play so vital ,,inside the 18 yard area his technical ability is second to none ,and his has incredible quick feet for a big man..plenty more goals to come from him .
I believe we will win tonight and Olivier Giroud will score ..Don’t ever doubt this man ,or this AC Milan team. Keep believing.

  8. Putting Krunic on the right AGAIN?! God, this is such a stupid decision, and there is no way it could work. We saw it go massively wrong last week, so why do it again? Change it up, use Origi, or Rebic, or CDK if he’s fit enough on the right. Krunic is good for us, but there’s absolutely nothing he can do on the right. If this flops, it’ll be because of Pioli again.
