Romero says he wants to ‘stay for the season’ after Real Madrid display amid loan rumours

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan youngster Luka Romero has clearly stated that he would like to stay at the club for the 2023/24 season rather than be sent out on loan after his display against Real Madrid in pre-season.

Speaking after the 3-2 defeat in California (via Milan News), the 18-year-old was asked whether he would like to remain with the Rossoneri or be loaned out, as reports have suggested that Milan will find a temporary home for him.

He was very clear that he thinks he can learn more from being a part of Stefano Pioli’s squad during the new season.

“Do I want to stay or go and play? I want to stay for the season, I can learn a lot here,” Romero said.

Romero is the name on Milan fans’ lips right now because he scored the second goal for the Rossoneri, which was a wonderful strike from distance into the top corner.

Given he is Argentinian, parallels were immediately drawn with Paulo Dybala. Romero made it clear that he hit the ball in his own way, rather than copying anyone else.

“Dybala-style goals? I kicked it the way I know how,” he said.

  1. This boy has soo much talent, his game is already at a high level, only thing I really can criticise is he must improve in one on ones and passing the defender and creating chances that way

    1. What I love about him is the grinta he has, he might be small but he’s an absolute bulldog on the pitch and a complete fighter

  2. He should stay for the season.

Right now we have way too many players in this position. We need to find a home for Messias and a loan for Chaka.

With Chukwueze, Luka, and Saelemakers, we have a starter and 2 subs who can deliver a variety of things depending on the situation.

  3. This boy should stay, him and chukwueze are okay, knowing pulisic can sometimes play that role, after yesterday i now agree that salaermakers can also leave together with messias

  4. Let Romero stay as backup to Chuckwueze and sell both Saelesmaekers and Messias. Promote Simic to the 25 man squad to be made as replacement for Gabbia, and sign Calafiori as replacment for Ballo-Toure and solve the homegrown player issue in one go.

Then let Colombo stay as backup together with Okafor to Giroud. Colombo is more similar to Giroud. Okafor can be used when we want to lay lower and counter more.

Silly to buy another young CB and physical forward when we have Simic and Colombo who both looked very promising so far in the pre-season. Spend the money on Musah and Singo instead.

  5. Romero has proven that we need him this season, a young right wing player with a powerful left foot who can take good shots from outside the 18yard. We have lacked this kind of player for years, when Chukwueze joins then we will have two guaranteed right wingers with a powerful left foot
