Longo: Thiaw’s future in limbo amid Bayern Munich and Real Madrid inquiries

By Isak Möller -

Malick Thiaw sent a strong message to the AC Milan management with a strong performance against Juventus last night. After many ups and downs this season, his future remains uncertain and the new manager will have a big say, per a report.

Thiaw was named the MOTM in our player ratings, as well as those of Gazzetta dello Sport, as he won the duel against Dusan Vlahovic. He also made a goal-line clearance in the dying minutes of the game, topping off a very good display.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Thiaw is a player who could be important on the mercato this summer. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have both enquired about the player and Milan sense a significant capital gain.

On the other hand, Geoffrey Moncada holds Thiaw in very high regard, having recommended him to Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. Therefore, the price tag would not be low and the Rossoneri are also happy to keep the player.

A lot will depend on the new manager, as there is no point in keeping a player who doesn’t suit the tactical approach. This is ultimately what will decide Milan’s stance on the matter, but Thiaw sent a strong signal last night.

  1. I’m not sold on him. He’s good when he can sit back and wait for the opposing team to attack as he is physically strong and has relativity good placement.

He struggles in high pressure as his movement is quite poor.

I wouldn’t mind selling him and replacing him with someone like Buongiorno, if they still like him.

  2. Put him in positions to succeed. Not defending 1v1 in transition without midfield support. He has potential and is young. Room to grow.

Like Diaz. Got a lot of criticism when he left because he was inconsistent. Madrid put him around a better cast and now he’s firing.

  3. Don’t give up on this kid. IF we take the time and develop him properly 30M will seem like peanuts. He will be worth double in a few years time and the top clubs in Europe see/understand that. But low sell HIGH – not the other way around for a change.

  4. Calafiori/Scalvini/Buongiorno, Thiaw, Gabbia, Pellegrino, Simic for DC next season. Samuele Ricci as DMC. Milan need more Italians in the starting 11
