Serafini believes Milan need ‘substantial growth’ in two important aspects

AC Milan have struggled to perform on a consistent level this season and that has cost them too many points. Moving forward, therefore, improvement must be seen especially in two aspects, as highlighted by Luca Serafini.

In the last four league games, Milan have collected just two points despite having a 2-0 lead at half-time both against Napoli and Lecce. It’s one thing to do it against Napoli, but after replicating the outcome against Lecce it became clear that the Rossoneri have a chronic issue.

The MilanTV pundit and journalist Luca Serafini highlighted this in his latest editorial for MilanNews. On top of the injuries and Stefano Pioli’s future, which you can read about here, he discussed what needs to be improved from a mental point of view.

“A final reflection concerns the team. Regardless of the absences, and the injuries sustained during the games, substantial growth in personality and leadership is needed.

“When Milan experienced the first difficulties, the veterans – instead of taking the reins into their own hands and instilling calm, order and support – became nervous and even got yellow and red cards as if it were raining. It’s better to count to 10 so that you don’t leave the team, in 10,” he wrote.

Milan will take on Fiorentina after the break and there will be some key absences. Olivier Giroud is suspended and Rafael Leao is injured, meaning it will be a good test for the alternatives to show their growth as of late.

  1. What veterans? Only one who plays is Giroud. And he did his job just right. It was the rest of the team that couldn’t hold the lead. Is he supposed to play cb and mid as well? What about the time he went gk and saved the match?
