Sky: Atalanta handed blow as star striker will miss Milan encounter

AC Milan will take on Atalanta in the next round, scheduled for Saturday at 18:00 CET, and they have been handed a boost in the build-up. According to a report, the Bergami side’s star striker Gianluca Scamacca will miss the clash.

Scamacca joined Atalanta on a permanent basis in the summer, being one of the key signings along with Milan loanee Charles De Ketelaere. With six goals and one assist so far, his arrival has been a huge success for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

However, as reported by Sky Italia (via TheMilanZone), Scamacca is suffering from an injury in his left adductor and will miss the next five games. This means that he won’t be available against Milan next weekend, which is a boost for the Rossoneri.

Therefore, it’s possible that De Ketelaere could be the starting striker for Atalanta against his former club. The Belgian has played eleven games as a centre-forward this season, so he wouldn’t exactly be playing out of position.

Stefano Pioli, meanwhile, will have his main striker Olivier Giroud back for the game as the suspension has been served. Luka Jovic did get on the scoresheet and also bagged an assist against Frosinone, though, so it remains to be seen who will play from start for Milan.

  1. I have a feeling De Ketelare will score against us juts like Bresciano did for Frosinone and other former players. It is becoming regular these days.
