Filippo Terracciano had his official unveiling press conference at Milanello today, and he revealed some of the reasons why he wanted to join AC Milan.
The club’s official website announced last week that Terracciano has put pen to paper on a contract with Milan that will run until 2028, therefore a four-and-a-half-year deal, making him the first new addition of the January window after Matteo Gabbia’s return.
The versatile Italy U21 international gave his first interview with the club’s official media channels and he spoke about his emotions after taking such a big step, while we also profiled him in a recent feature, taking a look at his strengths and his back story.
Terracciano spoke at his first presser since joining Milan today after the training session at Milanello and he answered questions from reporters, which we have translated below.
“Before starting I wanted to thank Verona, the city, the fans, the teammates and all the coaches I had, in particular Juric who I will thank forever,” he began.
You already have 40 appearances in Serie A despite your very young age…
“I’m accumulating experience game after game.”
What were your emotions after joining Milan?
“It changes a lot compared to Verona, Milan is a great club. The emotions, the first few days, were many, I was welcomed very well by everyone. When I go on the pitch I forget everything and only think about what I have to do.”
What is your favourite role?
“I’ve never given importance to the role, I just have to do my best where the coach puts me. I don’t think about it much.”
Do you have any idols that inspire you?
“Maldini and Nesta. I’ve always seen their videos.”
Why did you choose Milan? Have you spoken to Ibra?
“Because I saw Milan as the best environment for my growth. Here there are many great personalities like Ibra. I can also grow a lot on a human level.”
Have you spoken to Pioli?
“My dad played with the coach, I had a joke with him about this. I’ve always been at Verona, now let’s try to create my new future here day after day.”
What can Pioli give you?
“He can give me a lot, I’m already learning a lot. Both on a footballing and human level I will have significant growth.”
What can this squad give you?
“It’s a fantastic group. Training with champions like Leao, Theo and Giroud will give me a lot. Now I have to get into the coach’s schemes as soon as possible, then I’ll get to know my team-mates better on the pitch.”
How did you find it playing on the left in your debut
“I played on the left because the coach told me to. The role is not important, I always try to give my best wherever I play.”
Why did you choose the number 38?
“24 was not available. I chose 38 because I have a great relationship with Udogie and I chose this number for him too.”
What kind of an environment did you encounter?
“Fantastic. I immediately had positive feelings, I know that for any need I have people who can help me. This is also why I chose to come here to Milan.”
He’s one of the very few positive things from the last match. We can tell immediately he has that tactical awareness and blend well with the play. One of the reasons we should get players from the same league.
