TMW: Milan scouting Lecce talent but face competition from Bundesliga heavyweights

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in the market for a new full-back in view of the summer and Patrick Dorgu has caught their attention, but they face strong competition to land him.

While Milan currently have the likes of Alessandro Florenzi, Filippo Terracciano and Alex Jimenez on their books, none of them are natural left-backs meaning there arguably isn’t a proper deputy to Theo Hernandez present in the squad.

According to what is being reported by TMW, Milan have carefully followed the development of Patrick Dorgu in recent months at Lecce. The Dane is considered one of the best young players in Serie A and the Rossoneri have seen him up close at least twice in recent weeks.

The 19-year-old ended up in the Danish national team’s sights ahead of the European Championships in Germany given that it role that, at the moment, only has players like Maehle who is right-footed but is used on the left.

Dorgu has an market value that is difficult to pin down. Much will depend on two factors: the first is Lecce’s possible survival in Serie A, which seemed obvious for a long period of the season but which is now in danger, especially considering the last few months. The second is a potential international call-up.

In recent months Dorgu has also been linked to German and English clubs, while Juventus have not yet taken a step forward. Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen have looked at him, especially if Grimaldo were to leave, so Milan might have to move quickly.

  1. We need a classical fullback that can first and foremost be a good defender and would help defend a lead in the final 20-30 min. Wouldn’t mind also a central defender that can play as a left-back on occasion.

Any attacking fullbacks cannot match Theo’s output.
Dorgu so far to me seems like another Wilfried Singo
